Serialization, Product Identity, and Traceability Solutions
Connect code generation, printing, inspection, production records, and product events to create a controlled identification workflow.
Solution overview
A traceability project begins by assigning a product, batch, package, or logistic unit a controlled identity. That identity is printed as text, a barcode, a QR code, or a DataMatrix code. The code is then inspected, associated with production records, and used by approved systems to retrieve information or record product events.
Inkjetwell supplies the printing and production-line components required for many traceability projects. Depending on scope, this can include code generation, variable-data printing, camera verification, reject control, data collection, aggregation support, database integration, and production reporting.
Functional layers
- Code generation
- Product or package identity
- Variable-data printing
- Code inspection and verification
- Reject handling
- Data association
- Production records
- Approved MES, ERP, WMS, or traceability connection
- Reporting and audit support
Typical applications
- Pharmaceutical serialization
- Product authentication
- Food and beverage traceability
- Electronics product identity
- Card and voucher security
- Promotional unique codes
- Industrial part tracking
- Supply-chain identification
Project boundaries
Inkjetwell will define the supplied printing, inspection, control, and integration scope. The customer must define regulatory rules, master data, user permissions, cybersecurity, data retention, and validation responsibilities.
Questions to define
- What receives the identity?
- Which coding standard is used?
- Where are codes generated?
- Is every code unique?
- Is camera verification required?
- Is aggregation required?
- Which system owns the production record?
- What data is exchanged?
- What happens to rejected and reworked products?
Call to action
Send the product hierarchy, code standard, line layout, system interfaces, inspection requirement, and reporting needs. Inkjetwell will define the printing and integration scope.
